About Our Staff

Marina hails from The Republic of Georgia, a small country located between the Black and Caspian Seas. For many many years, the U.S.S.R. maintained control of Georgia, taking over its resources, government and its people. Only reluctantly, and very recently, has Georgia been allowed to regain its independence. Because Russia continues to punish Georgia for its separation (cutting off power and gas anytime it wishes) the decision was made to seek a better life in America. Marina, her husband George and two daughters Nana and Tata came to the U.S.A. four (4) years ago. George is employed by U.A.B., her daughters attend local universities and Marina works here. She is incredibly gifted with plants and flowers-- I have never seen more beautiful arrangements anywhere.   It is a privilege to work with her. Marina speaks seven (7!) different languages: Russian, Armenian, Georgian, Turkish, English, Italian and French.  Have a container you need planted? Need ideas? Giving a party and need a special arrangement? Come in and speak with Marina. You too will be very pleased with her work.

Many of you will remember Edmond, the tall sweet gentle man who worked with me for over twenty years. Edmond had to retire when the disease he suffers from, sickle cell anemia, got the best of him. He still drops to say hello and, on occasion, will spend a few hours in the greenhouse. I miss him terribly and wish him nothing but the very best. The book I wrote “Edmond and the Baby Hummingbird” to raise funds for his medical bills is still available with the proceeds benefiting him.
